I’ve been running and biking the last 10 years and had started to notice in the last few that I had increasing pain in my left hip and tightness in my left hamstrings.  Like most people my age, I chalked it up as normal – until one day when the pain became so intense and regular that it began to limit my daily activities.  I worked with a physical therapist that helped me restore some of the mobility of my leg and reduce some of my pain but not all of it.  Frustrated after several sessions that engulfed my time and financial resources, I decided to try something else – MAT.  The simplicity and effectiveness of it fascinated me, and since my ultimate goal was to return to my physical activities without pain during or after, it made sense to give it a try.  After the first session of MAT, I had even better stability than even before I started running 10 years ago!  I also noticed that I had less tightness in my hamstring the next time I went for a run.  The pain in my hip was a little harder to work through, but after 6 sessions, I had a nearly completely restored leg!  The best part for me was that I wasn’t given a ton of “homework” to do on my own that I didn’t have time for!  I recommend MAT for anyone who wants quick and effective improvement in body function and stability.


For the past several years I have been struggling with pain and numbness down my right leg after herniating a disc in my back. I have tried chiropractic care, massage therapy and acupuncture over the years and have had some relief but still always would come right back.  After losing some weight, it certainly helped but I never felt that I had the strength that I once had and still felt like there had to be something more that needed to be done to get it feeling better. After learning Julia did MAT, I decided that I would give it a try. I was amazed after just a couple of treatments the relief that I was seeing. It was nothing like I had done before. She was in essence listening to what my muscles were saying and not treating that areas that didn’t need to be treated. She was able manipulate the muscles in a way that hadn’t been done before allowing to get a much better range of movement. I had certain muscles that I didn’t even realize weren’t firing and now they are!! Not to mention the pain relief that I have. I am no longer waking up in the middle of the night with a constant throbbing or achy feeling in my leg. Julia really helped me get moving better which allows me to focus better on my leg strength and alleviated the pain that I was feeling on a regular basis! Thank you Julia!!

I dislocated my ankle almost 40 years ago that resulted in surgery to reattach tendons and ligaments. Throughout the years I have experienced pain with every step and at times couldn’t walk without limping or using a cane. This resulted in knee, hip and back problems from favoring my right leg and overusing my left. Julia has activated muscles that haven’t been working for years and have started to support my foot and ankle. My range of motion has increased. I have experienced less pain in everyday activity and the ability to act on impulse instead of watching where I was putting my foot down (for example uneven ground, etc.). I am very encouraged by my progress with MAT and Julia’s knowledge of this technique. I am increasing my activity level and look forward to some things I haven’t been able to enjoy.
